On October 8, 2023, the popular BOILING POINT ARENA will host a public discourse on rescuing the Naira, Nigeria’s currency, from its current decline. Dr Tunde Lemo, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, will be the guest speaker for the event.
The Chairman of the Boiling Point Council of Royals and Elders, Oba Prof Saka Matemilola, will deliver a keynote address at the online interview discourse. The theme of the event is “Persistent Unstable Macro-economic Environment: Any Way Out?”
BOILING POINT ARENA is a monthly current affairs program that provides a platform for engaging discussions on governance and nation-building. It has gained a significant online following and a large global audience.
The event will be conducted via Google Meet and broadcast live by Sweet 107.1FM, an Abeokuta-based radio station, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
One of the main topics of discussion will be the depreciation of the Naira, which has exceeded N1000 per dollar. Dr Lemo will analyze the various policy directions and assess the performance of the Central Bank of Nigeria over the past two decades, offering solutions to the challenges it currently faces.
The Organizing Committee, chaired by Eddy Ademosu, emphasized that the interview discourse will thoroughly examine the root causes of the prolonged depreciation of the Naira.
BOILING POINT consists of a diverse group of eminent personalities, including professors, technocrats, industry leaders, judges, traditional rulers, security officials, and media professionals.
