Amosun Pays Tribute to Late Chris Ogunbanjo, Hails Him as an Exemplary Leader


Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has expressed his condolences to the Ogunbanjo family on the passing of Chief Christopher Oladipo Ogunbanjo. 

In a statement, Amosun described Chief Ogunbanjo as an epitome of hard work and selfless service.

Chief Ogunbanjo, who was just two months shy of his centennial birthday, was a highly respected elder statesman known for his remarkable achievements in various fields. He was a renowned corporate lawyer, a leading industrialist, a successful businessman, and a philanthropist par excellence.

Amosun highlighted Chief Ogunbanjo’s exceptional career, including his establishment of Chris Ogunbanjo & Co., which grew to become a prominent international law firm. He also emphasized Chief Ogunbanjo’s significant contributions to business, manufacturing, and insurance sectors.

Chief Ogunbanjo held esteemed positions such as Life-Vice President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mines and Agriculture, as well as Patron of the Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce and Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce. 

He was also the first Chairman of the Nigerian Council for Management Development Education and Training, among other notable roles.

Recognizing Chief Ogunbanjo’s dedication to service, the Federal Government honored him with prestigious national awards, including the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) and Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON).

Amosun expressed his deep sorrow at the loss of Chief Ogunbanjo, who was revered as the Olotu of Ijebuland, the Lerinja of Egbaland, and the Gbadero of Lagos. 

Describing Chief Ogunbanjo as a cherished icon of Ogun State, Amosun offered prayers for the eternal rest of Chief Chris Ogunbanjo.
